Drama was gripping from start to
finish
PRODUCED and under the brilliant direction of Peter Taylor, this
Gothic tale is splendidly realised in a dark and brooding
production that grips from start to finish.
As soon as the curtain rises on Jekyll and Hyde you know you are
in for a great evening, with stunning sets and colourful
costumes.
Andrew Tuton conveys fully the dual personalities.
His fine acting is matched by his singing both of the sung
narrative and in the powerful This is the Moment.
I cannot heap enough praise on Lucy Sumner, who plays Lucy.
Helen O'Neil plays Jekyll's fiancée Emma. She is an outstanding
talent who I am sure will soon be discovered.
All the principals were close to flawless. The songs are
delivered with plenty of punch and every cast member gives a
well polished performance. The excellent chorus belt out the
songs. The costumes and sets were colourful. The sets were
changed seamlessly before your eyes.
The orchestra was well directed by Adrian Richards. It is a must
today to keep music live and an added bonus to see live
musicians in the orchestra pit in this day of the karaoke and
backing-track trend. The musicians were the icing on the cake
with superb dynamics which no karaoke or backing track will ever
achieve.
The whole cast pulled together as a team. The sound was quickly
sorted out after minor teething problems in Act One.
An evening full of talent and mystery was achieved by this local
company worthy of the bigger stage.

I saw Jekyll & Hyde on the opening
night and this is the finest amateur production I have seen. The
performance from the principals was flawless throughout, with
the lead being simply outstanding. The lighting and atmosphere
created was worthy of the West End, testament to the standing
ovation after the finale. I have booked again for the closing
night. MC
